The Joan Blench Piano Studio is moving to Kelowna, BC this summer and there is simply not enough room in my new place for all the games, wall art, books, instruments, and teaching resources I've accumulated over the past four decades. In June, I held an APTA Great Giveaway event with all the proceeds going to the Alberta Piano Teachers Association Student Bursary program. This is a fund that provides cash assistance to students of APTA members so they can continue their lessons during a time of financial need. Great Giveaway events have been held in Edmonton and Calgary with tremendous success. You simply bring a box, load it up with whatever items you'd like for your studio, and make a donation to the Student Bursary. Cash, cheque, and e-transfer are acceptable. I still have quite a few books and materials leftover so please make an appointment to come see if there is something you could use for your teaching or share with someone just starting their career path. My studio is located at 8413 - 94 Street, the second house past the ball diamonds as you head north on River Road in Peace River. I am not retiring ... I'm just taking a new path with my teaching.
