I have been fortunate through my adult life to have participated in international summer music festivals and academies including the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt (Austria), the Berkshire Choral Festival in Sheffield (Massachusetts, USA), and the Ristretto Summer Academy in Lumieres (France). I know how life-changing these experiences can be for musicians as they learn, perform, and socialize together so I am thrilled to be able to open up my vacation home in beautiful Ajijic (Mexico) for students of the International Festival del Lago.
Ajijic is located on Lake Chapala, just south of Guadalajara, and is surrounded by mountains on one side and water on the other. In the middle are cobblestone streets with tiny shops, beautiful murals, and friendly people. My house, Casa Contentamiento, is a traditional village home right in the heart of town and within walking (or biking) distance of almost anything you'd need. Of particular interest to festival participants is that it's only a four-minute walk to the Haus der Musik and a five-minute walk to the Riberas Cultural Centre. The town of Ajijic has been designated a Pueblo Magico for its charm and artisanal character. The photo above is taken from my rooftop; photos below are of the various rooms in the home plus a few others to help you get the flavour of this charming Mexican town.
